Small Decisions, Deep Liberation

Welcome

Hi — I’m Wanda.

Thank you for being here. After more than two decades helping people anchor faith and finances, I’ve learned that giving away our inner authority quietly steals our capacity to choose with courage. September invites us to harvest what matters and release what keeps us small. This week’s episode (publishing Wednesday) — Reclaiming Your Inner Authority: Trusting the Spirit Within You for Authentic Faith — Recognizing What Was Lost — offers practical rituals and hard-won steps to free your spirit and move your money with clarity.

Every Sunday I send one short practice, one simple money move you can automate, and one podcast highlight to guide your week. Below you’ll find three practical spiritual practices, a money move to set on autopilot, the podcast pick with a timestamp, and how to join our waitlist for upcoming programs and scholarships.

Why This Matters

When we don’t own our inner authority, decision-making becomes reactive — driven by inherited “shoulds” or fear — and that pattern leaks into finances, relationships, and vocation. Research on motivation and autonomy shows that leaning into autonomy (knowing who you are, why you choose) strengthens long-term wellbeing and sustained action.

Practices that combine naming, somatic regulation, and intentional reappraisal reliably reduce the power of intrusive beliefs and create space for new choices. For people struggling with money anxiety or financial scripts, pairing inner work with small financial systems is especially effective — financial therapy is an emerging field that blends both disciplines.

Spiritual Practices

3–10 minute practice — Name & Anchor (do this now)

  1. Sit quietly for 30 seconds; place one hand over your heart. Breathe in 4 / hold 2 / exhale 6 — two rounds.

  2. Ask aloud or quietly: “What was asked of me that I never agreed to?” Wait, notice the first word or short phrase that comes. Write it down.

  3. Anchor by speaking: “I name this: ‘_____.’ I do not have to carry it as truth.” Take one slow inhale and say: “I choose to listen to the Spirit within me.”

Why: naming separates the story from your identity, and the spoken anchor begins the neural practice of agency.

5-minute Journaling Prompt

Set a timer for five minutes. Answer in short sentences:

  1. What belief or rule did I inherit that now limits me?

  2. Who gave it to me (person/place/time)?

  3. One small counter-truth I will carry this week (one sentence).

Save that counter-truth somewhere visible (phone lock screen, mirror note).

The Courage Fund

Financial Action

Align $ with Purpose

Choose one small dollar amount you can save automatically (even $5). Each deposit into a dedicated Courage Fund is an affirmation: "This money follows my purpose." Automate it and watch the habit compound.
  1. Create a sub-savings in your bank or savings app named Authority Fund or Courage Fund.

  2. Automate $5 weekly (or $2 if you prefer). For the memo write: Authority — [date].

  3. Each transfer is a tiny vote that you are reclaiming trust in your own decisions. When you withdraw, log in one sentence what action the money supported.

Micro-ritual: each transfer, say once aloud: “This is my vote for reclaiming my authority.”

Deeper exercise — Lost & Found Letter

(15-20 minutes)

Write a letter to the younger you who first learned a limiting religious or spiritual rule. Start with: “Dear younger me, I see you learned to _____ to please/avoid _____.” Spend 10 minutes writing without self-censoring. Then write a short paragraph of forgiveness, then one sentence: “From now, I choose…” Keep that sentence as a daily anchor.

Listener Story & Invitation to Reply

After I named the belief—‘I must earn God’s favor’—and said aloud, ‘I choose to listen to the Spirit within me,’ I surprised myself by saying no to an obligation I’d always accepted. I booked a short coaching call I’d been avoiding and felt the tightness lift for the first time in years.

I read every reply — hit reply and tell me the single belief you named or one small step you took this week.

Your short story could encourage someone else.
