A note from Wanda:
––––––––––––––––––––
There comes a point in life when the titles we’ve worked so hard to earn begin to feel… smaller than we expected.
Parent.
Manager.
CEO.
Pastor.
Teacher.
Entrepreneur.
Student.
Provider.
Caretaker.
None of these are wrong.
The question is whether they have become your identity—or simply the roles you play.
Many of us spend years introducing ourselves by what we do before we’ve ever discovered who we are.
Our careers change.
Children grow up.
Businesses evolve.
Retirement comes.
Sometimes life removes a title we never imagined living without.
When that happens, it can feel as though we’ve lost ourselves.
But maybe what was lost wasn’t you.
Maybe it was only the nameplate.
One of the most freeing realizations is understanding that your value has never depended on your position.
Your title may describe your responsibility.
It should never define your worth.
This week’s reflection asks a simple question:
Who remains when every label is removed?
That answer is often quieter than we expect.
It isn’t found in applause.
It isn’t found in achievement.
It isn’t found in what other people call you.
It’s found in the person who existed before the promotions, before the expectations, and before the world told you who you should become.
Ironically, the more secure you become in who you are, the less you need a title to prove it.
Titles become tools.
Not identities.
Responsibilities.
Not definitions.
Perhaps that’s what freedom looks like.
Not having fewer responsibilities…
…but no longer confusing them with who you are.
The Invitation
This week, spend a few quiet moments with these questions:
If every title disappeared tomorrow, how would I describe myself?
Am I living from my identity—or performing for my identity?
No rush. I’ll share the companion episode on Wednesday when it’s live.
One Gentle Link
If you’d like to stay with this a little longer, here’s one gentle place to listen when you’re ready.
The companion episode for this letter will be shared on Wednesday when it’s live.
That’s it for this week.
Be gentle with the work. Growth often begins when we stop introducing ourselves by what we do…
and start becoming comfortable with who we are.
“You are more than what you do.”
Keep showing up for you. Keep flowing in freedom! 💜
